How to Get 100,000 Podcast Downloads

Imagine having absolute clarity about how to grow your podcast. Knowing what you need to do each week to grow your show and get more listeners.

Imagine the confidence of understanding podcast marketing and knowing how to tap into the audience who are dying to hear from you.

  • No more publishing and praying.
  • No more posting to crickets on Facebook, Instagram, and X.
  • No more embarrassment when friends ask you about how your podcast is doing and you shrug and say "it's coming along".

It's possible.

I've coached dozens of podcasts to help them grow their shows and distilled all that knowledge into my upcoming ebook. Be the first to know about the launch bonuses by clicking the link below to join the waitlist.

How Would Your Podcast Look If It Was Easy?

When I’m talking to podcasters, one common theme emerges. Podcasting is a ton of work

And yes, we can all agree that’s true. But it’s not useful as a narrative. If we get stuck talking about how podcasts are hard, they’re too much effort, and you're so overwhelmed all the time, blah blah blah. You fast-track your way to burnout.

Instead, what would it look like if it was easy?

If you got to the end of your podcast week and thought, “Wow, that was all so simple!” How would that look day to day?

I like to break this down into the five biggest time sucks that podcasters face. I’ll share some ideas for you to think about but taking the time to mull this yourself will bring the biggest advantages.

Interview Scheduling

Interview scheduling can turn into an email chain that seems to have no end in sight. Everyone’s busy, and your guests might not have the availability you do. If you throw in multiple time zones, it drags out even more.

But if you use a tool like Calendly, booking interviews is simple. You set your availability, send your guests a link, and they can book whenever they’re free.

A dozen emails can turn into two. Easy.

Episode Prep

AI can’t do all the work for you. But it can act as your professional research assistant to streamline your episode prep.

Claude AI is great for summarizing your own research and findings into questions.

ChatGPT is great for finding resources on the web because it can provide links.

Here is a research prompt to get you started:

“I need you to act as my podcats research assistant. I run a podcast called [podcast name] which aims to [summary of yoru podcast]. I have an upcoming interview with [guest name] from [relevant organisation] where I want to talk about [subject of the episode]. Can you provide relevant links to where I should start my research?”

Easy right?

Once you’ve got your research document, you could then upload it to Claude and tell it:

“I need you to act as my podcats research assistant. I run a podcast called [podcast name], which aims to [summary of your podcast]. I have an upcoming interview with [guest name] from [relevant organization] where I want to talk about [subject of the episode]. Can you look at this research document and pre-call transcripts to come up with ten questions I can ask in an interview?”

You don’t have to copy and paste the answers but you can use them to kick start your brain into thinking about what to ask.

With a slight tweak, you can use this method to help with research for non-interview-style podcasts, too. Easy.

Editing and Post Production

If you love editing, then you fire on.

If you don’t, you have two options.

Use a text editor like Alitu to speed up editing. This is my preferred method currently. You can double playback speed and auto-remove long pauses to half the time spent editing.

Hire an editing agency like We Edit Podcasts who can take care of the editing for you. You upload the raw file along with relevant music, intros, outros, etc and they put it all together for you. Easy.

Scheduling & Show Notes

I’m a big fan of using templates in podcasting. So many tasks are repetitive that it’s easier to open up a fill-in-the-blank template so you can plug and play.

The templates I use in my podcast are in the Template Vault. The Episode titles and description templates, specifically, are great time savers. Easy.

Social Media

Once again, I’m a big scheduling fan. I use Hypefury to schedule my weekly tweets on my Twitter account. That takes the pressure out of writing down to a weekly 1-2 hour task. Then, I have to check in every day to answer comments and messages. Easy.

What About You?

Your podcast needs will be unique to your show. What changes can you bring about to cut down your stress and bring free time back into your podcasting?

If you need help I’ve got some free time coming up so book in a coaching call and we can discuss together how make your podcasting easy.
